ESG Case Study - Image

Climate actions need to speak louder than words

Find out how you can
put the 'e' into ESG

How to put the e into your ESG programme?

Saving the planet one tree at a time is not just a lofty goal anymore – CustomerMinds is already helping organisation all over the globe to replace their letters with digital communications. With minimal changes to the core systems, the organisations that we work with have transformed their customer experience, reduced their costs and taken their first steps towards a more sustainable future.

Milton Graham (formerly Dun & Bradstreet ANZ) is the market leader in debt collections & recovery in Australia and New Zealand.

They are saving at least 1 tree per day* by using the SMS2PDF solution from CustomerMinds. Previously they would have been posting out over 3,000 letters on a daily basis – and typically each letter would have consisted of 2-3 pages plus the envelope. Now they issue every customer with a simple SMS message that links them to a secure, personalised copy of their letter which is hosted in the Which50 platform. Apart from saving the daily tree, Milton Graham have seen their response rate improve and their costs have been dramatically reduced so a win for the environment and the business at the same time.

Even the Post Office are working hard to reduce the amount of letters that they send out to their banking customers – in 2020, we sent out over 3 million digital communications on behalf of Post Office Money as they delivered an end-to-end digital banking solution in conjunction with Bank of Ireland UK. Every month, over 125,000 digital letters are sent out to their customers covering every aspect of the customer journey from welcome emails to account closure confirmation. Some of the ‘letters’ are sent out as richly branded emails whilst others are confidential PDF documents that are secured using Two Factor Authentication (2FA).

* Based on estimates that 1 tree makes 8,333 sheets of copy paper – estimate calculated by Tom Soder, from the Pulp and Paper Technology Program at the University of Maine
